Parking tips On-street parking: On-street parking is available near White River State Park. Unlike years past, you have to feed the meters on weekends. Some of your best bets are the streets around the Statehouse and Indiana government center offices. Starting at Washington St. and going north, look at Washington, Senate, Ohio, Capitol, Illinois, Market and New York streets for reasonably close, convenient on-street parking. You can walk to the park on Washington St., but a more enjoyable walk is to take the canal walkway under West St. to the park. It's a great view. Here's a nice image of the downtown canal map, showing some attractions you'll see along the way. Lots and garages: We're still working on this one and will post the best deals here. So lot and garage owners, e-mail earthdayindiana@comcast.net with your Saturday, April 24 fee and we will post the lowest price or prices here. IUPUI has the best rate right now at $4 for the day. That is for the parking lots off of New York nearest to West St., the lot next to the Herron School of Art on New York and the Natatorium parking garage right across from the Herron lot, also on New York. The Indiana state government south parking garage offers $5 for the day. Access the garage from Washington St. and Maryland St. on a north-south side street just east of West St. White River State Park has 500 underground parking parking spaces at $5 each. Access the lot on Washington St. Please check back for updates. |
