Green Spaces & Beautification

  • Central Indiana Land Trust

Through land protection, stewardship and education, the Central Indiana Land Trust preserves natural areas, improving air

  • Indiana Native Plant & Wildflower Society

INPAWS promotes the appreciation, preservation, conservation, utilization and scientific study of the flora native to Indiana. They educate the public about the value, beauty, diversity and environmental importance of indigenous vegetation.

  • Keep Indianapolis Beautiful

KIB supports an average of 500 community improvement projects each year with more than 30,000 volunteers. For the past three decades, KIB has partnered with neighborhoods, the public sector, and Indianapolis community groups and businesses to achieve their vision for a beautiful city.

  • The Nature Conservancy

Since 1959, The Nature Conservancy in Indiana has protected more than 80,000 acres of forests, wetlands, prairies, lakes and streams for current and future generations to enjoy.

Environmental Advocacy

  • Earth Charter Indiana

Earth Charter Indiana inspires and advances sustainable, just and peaceful living in Indiana by promoting the values and principles of the Earth Charter. Their work includes two programs,

Sustainable Indiana 2016 and Youth Power Indiana.

  • Hoosier Environmental Council

The Hoosier Environmental Council is devoted to identifying the biggest environmental challenges facing Indiana, and uniting people toward a solution. HEC uses a combination of education, advocacy, and sometimes, litigation, to address those challenges. The result is a new vision of Indiana’s future: one of cleaner air, safer water, more protected land, and ultimately, a healthier, higher quality of life.

  • Indiana Forest Alliance

The Indiana Forest Alliance strives to see the regeneration of ancient, resilient forest ecosystems and supports the integration of human communities with forests through practices that truly sustain and provide for all.

  • Indiana Recycling Coalition

The mission of the Indiana Recycling Coalition is to support source reduction, reuse, composting, and recycling activities in Indiana. The Indiana Recycling Coalition supports policies and programs that advance sustainable materials management. The goal of this support is to conserve our natural resources, reduce energy use, encourage environmental responsibility and create green jobs through recycling.

  • The Sierra Club, Hoosier Chapter

  • City of Indianapolis Office of Sustainability

The City of Indianapolis Office of Sustainability is a professional office created by Mayor Ballard to be the driving force behind SustainIndy.  The Office provides a structure for implementation and policy recommendations for SustainIndy. The main charges of the Office of Sustainability are to: (1) Lead sustainability efforts within city government, (2) Coordinate and collaborate on community sustainability goals – including acting as primary liaison to the City of Indianapolis Green Commission, and (3) Establish public-private partnership opportunities to move forward aggressively on achieving the vision of a more sustainable Indianapolis.
